Amitabh Bachchan has announced the comeback of his renowned game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) with a new video in which the screen icon confronts the dangers of disinformation by exploiting the viral and false claims of “GPS-enabled Rs 2,000 currency notes.”

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared demonetisation in 2016, some news outlets stated that the new Rs 2,000 currency note will have an in-built GPS that would track its position 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The 50-second commercial, released by Sony TV on Saturday, poked fun at these erroneous claims by featuring Bachchan repeating his role as the show’s presenter, asking a contestant named Guddi a question.

The legendary actor is seen in the video asking the contestant, ‘Out of the typewriter, television, satellite, and Rs 2,000 note, what has GPS technology in it?’ The contestant confidently selects a Rs 2,000 cash note as her answer, only to be informed by Bachchan that the right response was a satellite.

When the perplexed candidate inquires whether Bachchan was kidding, the 79-year-old responds, “What you perceived to be the reality was the joke.” When the competitor claims she acquired the information from news sites and that it was their responsibility, Bachchan reminds her that even if it was a journalist’s error, “the loss was hers.”

In the promotional video, he adds, “Gyaan jahaan se mile bator lijiye, par pehle zara tatol lijiye (Gather information from anywhere you can, but check it first).” The video quickly went viral on social media, garnering over 10,000 likes on Twitter alone. “We are all aware of the fact that one individual jo humein aisi unconfirmed sansani khabrein sunata hai! Tell them in the comments that Gyaan jahaan se mile bator lo, but pehle tatol lo, “Sony TV’s official Twitter page announced the show’s 14th season.

Except for the third season in 2007, which was hosted by superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Bachchan has hosted KBC since its beginning in 2000.
