Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, will remarry on Thursday in Chandigarh. Mann, 48, and Dr. Gurpreet Kaur will wed.
Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, has been invited to the occasion as a special guest. From their home hamlet of Satoj, Mann’s mother has already arrived at the CM mansion.
Mann and Inderpreet Kaur have two children together and were previously married. His son Dilshan Mann, 17, and daughter Seerat Kaur Mann, 21, had come over from the US to be present for his swearing-in ceremony on March 16 of this year.
Mann was constantly in Inderpreet Kaur’s prayers, she had previously told The Indian Express from the US. The couple filed for divorce a year after Inderpreet, who is from the Ludhiana hamlet of Barewal, supported Mann in his first parliamentary election from Sangrur.
“Jo latkeyan si chiran to o hal ho gaya, Court ch eh faisla kal ho gaya.. ek passey si parivaar, dujey passey si parivaar.. main taan yaaron Punjab de vall ho gaya,” the comedian-turned-politician had said of his divorce.
(A persistent problem has been resolved. The judge made a decision. My two families were up for choice. I’ve decided on Punjab).
