The Islamic State has grabbed on to the issue over the insulting statements by now-suspended BJP spokeswoman Nupur Sharma against Prophet Mohammed, a holy leader and creator of Islam. The terror group Islamic State Khorasan Province, or Daesh, released a 10-minute video focusing on India and alleged blasphemy issues involving Nupur Sharma. The movie, titled ‘The polytheists are the brothers of the polytheists,’ portrays Sharma and the demolition effort in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, which included the destruction of a portion of a mosque. In the news broadcast from ISKP’s outlet AlAzaim foundation, the terror cell vows to attack Hindus to revenge the disrespect of the Prophet.

“The video features@NupurSharmaBJP, the national spokesperson of the @BJP4India and houses of Muslims bulldozed. It then features previous statements of ISKP suicide bombers who were Indian. Threatening to carry out attacks against India wherever possible,” independent news outlet Khorasan Diary tweeted.

The Islamic State then criticises the Taliban, namely defence minister Mullah Yaqoob for his interview with an Indian news television station and finance minister Amir Muttaqi for meeting with the Indian charge d’affaires in Afghanistan in order to develop diplomatic relations with India.

The film recalls last year’s attack on Kabul airport and the March 2020 attack on Gurudwara, warning further similar strikes. According to the film, the Taliban would fail to defend Hindus as they had failed to protect Shias.

Earlier this month, Al-Qaeda in the Subcontinent (AQIS) vowed suicide assaults in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai and Delhi to “fight for the dignity of our Prophet”. In a June 6 threat letter, AQIS threatened that “saffron terrorists should now await their end in Delhi and Bombay, as well as in UP and Gujarat.”

After West Asian countries addressed the issue with Indian missions, the insulting statements made by Sharma and another BJP member, Naveen Jindal, snowballed into a global uproar. The issue also triggered a widespread protest in India, demanding arrest of Nupur Sharma.
