According to authorities, the terrorist responsible in the recent targeted death of a bank manager in Kashmir was among two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants killed in an encounter in Shopian yesterday night.
“ShopianEncounterUpdate: Two terrorists affiliated to the banned #terror group LeT have been killed. Identification is being established. More information will be provided later “The Kashmir Zone Police tweeted information regarding the combined operation undertaken by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Army. “Jan Mohd Lone of Shopian has been identified as one of the terrorists slain. He was engaged in the recent death of Vijay Kumar, a bank manager, on June 2 in Kulgam district, in addition to other terror acts “The police department added another tweet.
Vijay Kumar, a citizen of Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh, was shot on June 2, just after starting his deployment in Kashmir’s Kulgam. A terrorist was filmed entering the bank and shooting at him.
The murder drew concern since it was the latest in a string of targeted homicides in the Valley.
Last year, targeted attacks on migrant labour and local minorities began.
Kashmiri Pandits are also protesting in Jammu and Kashmir, asking that they be transferred to safer locations.
Since Rahul Bhat, a Kashmiri Pandit, was shot dead inside the magistrate’s office in Budgam last month, members of the community have been protesting.
Approximately 4,000 Kashmir Pandits working in the Valley as part of the Prime Minister’s rehabilitation programme have threatened to flee, claiming that they no longer feel secure.
