The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) stated on Saturday that the South-West monsoon has arrived in Mumbai and other neighbouring locations. “Today, June 11th, 2022, the Southwest Monsoon has further progressed into remaining areas of the central Arabian Sea, most parts of Konkan (including Mumbai), some parts of Madhya Maharashtra, and some more parts of Karnataka,” said IMD. The meteorological service also stated that the circumstances are suitable for the monsoon to progress farther into other regions of the nation. “Conditions are favourable for further advance of monsoon into some parts of north Arabian sea, remaining parts of Konkan, some parts of Gujarat state, most parts of Madhya Maharashtra, entire Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, some parts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Westcentral & northwest Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours,” the weather service said.
Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Center in Mumbai has forecast heavy rain in portions of the financial city during the next 3-4 hours. “Thunderstorms with lightning and moderate to heavy spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated areas in the districts of Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Mumbai within the next 3-4 hours,” warned IMD Mumbai.
