MOSCOW: According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the West has begun a hybrid war on Russia, the effects of which will be felt by everyone.

Sergey Lavrov said it was impossible to tell how long this hybrid conflict would go during a meeting of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy (SVOP) in Moscow Oblast, according to Anadolu Agency.

“The collective West has declared a comprehensive hybrid war on us,” the minister stated. “It is difficult to tell how long it will persist, but it is evident that everyone, without exception, will suffer the effects.”

The minister stated that Russia tried all possible to avoid a direct clash but understood the difficulties, including the threat of sanctions.

Sanctions are nothing new to us; they’ve nearly always been in some form,” he said.

Lavrov slammed attempts to recruit Russian diplomats overseas, as well as their wholesale expulsion, claiming that such actions had never been seen before, even during the Cold War.

Despite such attempts from both overseas and inside the nation, he said that no diplomats had abandoned the country.

The minister predicted that NATO’s goals in the Indo-Pacific region would grow, and that the next line of defence, which was drawn along the Berlin Wall during the Cold War, will be changed somewhere in the South China Sea.

He emphasised that such ambitions demonstrated that NATO is not a defensive alliance.

“The idea is being held that NATO, as the vanguard of the community of democracies, should replace the UN in matters of world politics, at least subordinate this policy to itself, and the management of the global economy should be taken to the Group of Seven (G7), where, from time to time, statisticians needed by the West at one time or another will be graciously invited,” he said.
