Vijay has been enjoying the success of his film Beast, which was released in April. In the same month, the actor gave his first interview in ten years. During the conversation, he explained why he chose to stop doing interviews. Vijay turned 48 on Wednesday.
Vijay was asked why he dislikes doing interviews during an interview with Sun TV. He responded by recalling a magazine interview he did ten years ago. When the magazine published his interview, Vijay claimed that the responses he gave were radically different from what he said. “In the last interview, I said something that turned out to be unpleasant. As a result, I’ve been extra cautious since then.

Even my friends and family questioned me, saying they couldn’t envision me in the interview since my responses were arrogant. I was displeased. “Even my family members were perplexed as to why I had talked so arrogantly,” Vijay explained.

“I explained to them that what was published was absolutely different from what I stated, and they understood me,” he continued. But I couldn’t provide the same answer to all of them. So I chose to keep silent, and ten years passed. Now I thought, why shouldn’t I participate in an interview, and I chose to do so.”

Back in 2013, after giving an interview to a Tamil magazine, Vijay tweeted photographs of his statements and chastised the publisher for not reporting what he said. “What’s the sense of doing an interview if they make up their own answers?” The photograph depicted the magazine repeating Vijay’s statements on his’star worth,”market value,’ and ‘no directors waiting for his call sheet.’

Vijay was most recently featured in Beast, where he played an R&AW officer on a rescue operation to save people from a seized mall. Beast, a Die-Hard-inspired thriller, was released in theatres on April 13 and went on to make more than 200 crore at the box office, despite receiving primarily mediocre and negative reviews.

Vijay is currently filming Thalapathy 66 with filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally. Vijay and Vamshi visited Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in May.

Vijay will make his Telugu debut with Thalapathy 66. Rashmika Mandanna, Sarath Kumar, Sangeetha, Yogi Babu, Shaam, and Srikanth also appear in the film. The film is set to be released later in 2022. Vijay will return with Master director Lokesh Kanagaraj for a new film when this one is over.
