Policemen from two states – Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh and BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh – are seen fighting and jostling for the anchor’s custody in a dramatic video filmed this morning. The Chhattisgarh police tried to arrest the anchor but were stopped by the police in UP’s Ghaziabad, who took him away. Rohit Ranjan had tweeted an SOS to the Uttar Pradesh police when the Chhattisgarh team landed at his home around 5.30 am. He alleged that the Chhattisgarh police had arrived to take him into custody without informing the local police.
He said that without telling the neighbourhood police, the Chhattisgarh police had shown up to arrest him.
Cases had been filed against the TV anchor in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
The Chhattisgarh police replied that it didn’t need to inform anyone as long there was a warrant.
There is no such rule to inform. Still, now they are informed. Police team has shown you court’s warrant of arrest. You should in fact cooperate, join in investigation and put your defence in court.— Raipur Police (@RaipurPoliceCG) July 5, 2022
The network issued an apology, and Mr. Ranjan stated on his programme that “yesterday, in our show DNA, Rahul Gandhi’s comment was taken in the incorrect context by relating it to the Udaipur event. It was a human error for which our team apologises.”
Rahul Gandhi, a Congressman, stated, “I was talking about the attack on my Wayanad office “The kids who did this were reckless in their actions. Please pardon them; they are young.”
Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, claimed that Rahul Gandhi appeared to be advocating forbearance for those who murdered Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur because they were children.
Rahul Gandhi, apparently referring to the misleading video, tweeted, “The whole country knows the history of the BJP-RSS; they are pushing the country into the fire of hatred . No matter how much these traitors try to break the country, the Congress will continue to do more to unite India.”
